WEBVTT 00:00:03.320 --> 00:00:10.160 And I'm opening Session number four during which we'll talk 00:00:10.160 --> 00:00:17.480 about selected research issues of city transformation At this 00:00:17.480 --> 00:00:23.720 point I'd like to invite the Rotakovnoska Zauska Magdalena 00:00:23.720 --> 00:00:31.840 Rembezza from the Gdansk University of Technology and they 00:00:31.840 --> 00:00:37.120 will tell us about livability, quality of life in cities. 00:00:37.120 --> 00:00:38.840 The floor is yours. 00:00:40.600 --> 00:00:43.960 Present our project Livability. 00:00:44.160 --> 00:00:51.520 This is the project which is part of Interact Baltic Sea program. 00:00:53.080 --> 00:00:55.200 My name is Dorota Kamrovskasawoska. 00:00:55.200 --> 00:00:59.400 I'm a university professor at Dysk University of Technology 00:00:59.400 --> 00:01:03.440 and I will be presenting it with my colleague Magdalenarambezza, 00:01:03.440 --> 00:01:05.920 who is also a professor in the university. 00:01:06.400 --> 00:01:10.600 We are going to speak about designing public services for resilient 00:01:10.600 --> 00:01:11.600 neighbourhoods. 00:01:13.400 --> 00:01:21.640 Generally, this project is about what are conditioned to make 00:01:21.640 --> 00:01:22.920 cities more livable. 00:01:23.240 --> 00:01:27.160 There is a kind quite a lot of studies about the topic. 00:01:27.520 --> 00:01:34.280 So in this project, we focus on city administration, how to enable, 00:01:34.280 --> 00:01:40.320 how to empower civil servants so that they can really work on 00:01:40.480 --> 00:01:45.560 livability, so that can make room for the other stakeholders 00:01:45.960 --> 00:01:49.560 to engage, to be empowered and to create the project. 00:01:50.000 --> 00:01:55.400 And we think that good approach for this is design. 00:01:56.120 --> 00:02:03.560 We believe that in order to be able to innovate we need to make 00:02:04.000 --> 00:02:09.920 room for experiments, for prototyping, even for failures. 00:02:14.840 --> 00:02:20.880 There are various challenges which neighbourhood, cities 00:02:20.880 --> 00:02:26.360 and towns are facing pre post COVID crisis, social inequalities 00:02:27.000 --> 00:02:28.200 or climate change. 00:02:28.520 --> 00:02:31.440 But we see them as opportunity. 00:02:31.680 --> 00:02:37.360 We see them as opportunity to change the culture culture within 00:02:37.360 --> 00:02:42.480 the public administration to make it more open to the changes 00:02:42.960 --> 00:02:47.560 and to to evoke strong sense of active citizenship. 00:02:48.880 --> 00:02:53.800 Our project is strongly embedded in sustainable development 00:02:53.800 --> 00:02:59.440 goals, implementing it in in local level. 00:02:59.720 --> 00:03:06.760 We see it as we would like the public administration, local administration 00:03:06.760 --> 00:03:13.120 to be even closer to the stakeholders to we want to have more public 00:03:13.360 --> 00:03:17.680 fear, but not in the sense of ownership but in the sense of guidelines 00:03:18.600 --> 00:03:21.040 and the process to be more agile. 00:03:21.120 --> 00:03:25.560 As I already mentioned, the process which is less waterfall, 00:03:25.560 --> 00:03:31.400 it's more turquoise type of organization which is allowing 00:03:31.760 --> 00:03:33.920 to really experiment. 00:03:36.560 --> 00:03:41.920 There are various studies, various research project thinking 00:03:41.920 --> 00:03:46.360 about conditions of livability connected with accessibility 00:03:46.360 --> 00:03:51.480 to services connected with their the quality of services. 00:03:52.600 --> 00:03:58.600 But here we would like to focus on what is livability 00:03:58.600 --> 00:04:04.680 for the civil servants in the cities, How they can promote it, 00:04:04.880 --> 00:04:11.040 how then they can make room for livability in their work. 00:04:13.360 --> 00:04:18.320 What was strongly mentioned was this was create empowering 00:04:18.320 --> 00:04:24.000 creating owned project by the stakeholders. 00:04:27.520 --> 00:04:32.600 Generally we focus in this project on building the platform 00:04:33.480 --> 00:04:40.600 which enable to create to enhance the sense of pride, empowerment, 00:04:40.600 --> 00:04:41.840 sense of belonging. 00:04:43.360 --> 00:04:49.160 There are various very good design based design approach project 00:04:49.160 --> 00:04:55.400 which are being developed in the cities but in vast majority 00:04:55.400 --> 00:04:59.440 of cases there are single pilot actions. 00:04:59.600 --> 00:05:03.680 What we would like to do in this project is to mainstream them, 00:05:03.680 --> 00:05:09.080 to create the culture, the ecosystem which will allow this approach, 00:05:09.080 --> 00:05:14.960 approach of experiment, approach of innovation to be part of 00:05:14.960 --> 00:05:20.600 the mainstream work of the public administration. 00:05:21.320 --> 00:05:24.880 And we believe one of the answers could be public interest design. 00:05:25.760 --> 00:05:30.280 Our partner cities within the project, for example Godena, 00:05:30.280 --> 00:05:37.240 Kilonia, Opori are now implementing I think very interesting 00:05:37.240 --> 00:05:41.440 projects using many different approaches starting from social 00:05:41.440 --> 00:05:46.240 design, design thinking, Co creation, public sector design. 00:05:46.520 --> 00:05:51.840 But we see that they all can be sum up under the umbrella of public 00:05:51.840 --> 00:05:52.840 interest design. 00:05:52.880 --> 00:05:55.800 For us, public interest design mean free pillars. 00:05:56.200 --> 00:06:03.280 First is design approach I already mentioned, then the participation 00:06:03.280 --> 00:06:08.560 of creation and then the third one where the common good is in 00:06:08.560 --> 00:06:12.080 the as a pillar of this approach. 00:06:13.440 --> 00:06:19.720 For us this is a methodological framework where the public interest 00:06:19.720 --> 00:06:23.200 and collective well being is in the centre of design process 00:06:23.200 --> 00:06:29.840 we were speaking about This is very quick overview of our project. 00:06:30.160 --> 00:06:34.040 We started to think about what we would like to do, from why we 00:06:34.040 --> 00:06:35.720 need it, from the problems. 00:06:36.160 --> 00:06:41.520 So we see that the use of design principles in the city 's administration 00:06:41.520 --> 00:06:46.800 are still fragmented and coordinated in many cases So we'd like 00:06:46.800 --> 00:06:51.440 to reach political and administrative leadership to strengthen 00:06:51.440 --> 00:06:54.480 city wise agreement on the design principles. 00:06:54.880 --> 00:07:01.040 There are various very good tool tool boxes available, but often 00:07:01.040 --> 00:07:03.760 we don't need which to use, which to use, in which case. 00:07:03.760 --> 00:07:10.000 So that's why we would like to propose the PT Use Case Guide to 00:07:10.000 --> 00:07:11.920 lead through the process. 00:07:12.440 --> 00:07:18.200 Then we are all aware of the design principle, but the practical 00:07:19.240 --> 00:07:23.560 know how how to use it, especially in the framework of public 00:07:23.560 --> 00:07:26.560 services, it's not so obvious very often. 00:07:26.560 --> 00:07:30.040 So that's why I would like to propose the training to empower 00:07:30.040 --> 00:07:31.160 the civil servants. 00:07:32.360 --> 00:07:37.840 Our project is eleven partners, six municipalities, Khil, 00:07:37.840 --> 00:07:42.840 Gdanya, Gulbordson called Ding Pori and Triga and five other 00:07:42.840 --> 00:07:44.400 knowledge organisations. 00:07:44.800 --> 00:07:48.360 And we strongly cooperate with our associate organization 00:07:48.360 --> 00:07:52.160 like you know of Baltic city of or Creative City festival. 00:07:53.640 --> 00:07:58.440 We started from this framework, from the tools, the second photos 00:07:58.440 --> 00:08:01.840 showing already our pilot in Riga. 00:08:02.360 --> 00:08:06.920 And the third one will be probably the most important, how to 00:08:06.920 --> 00:08:11.280 transfer to what what we did within the consortium, within the 00:08:11.280 --> 00:08:14.320 project, into the other cities, into followers. 00:08:15.160 --> 00:08:17.960 There are two main roles within this project. 00:08:17.960 --> 00:08:22.320 One is speed change agents, which was the person within the city 00:08:22.320 --> 00:08:27.080 organization which is will be working with the changing the 00:08:27.080 --> 00:08:30.440 ecosystem, changing the culture to make it more agile, more 00:08:30.440 --> 00:08:35.400 open, more open for the innovation, for the testing, for the 00:08:35.400 --> 00:08:36.160 experiment. 00:08:36.560 --> 00:08:39.680 And the second one is speed incremental working directly on 00:08:39.680 --> 00:08:42.840 the ground with the implementation project. 00:08:43.480 --> 00:08:45.480 And now I will pass to Magda. 00:08:46.680 --> 00:08:47.000 Thank you. 00:08:49.240 --> 00:08:49.520 Sorry. 00:08:51.280 --> 00:08:55.440 The capacity building program consists of three main elements. 00:08:55.720 --> 00:08:59.800 The the first element is the Livable City Charter. 00:09:00.680 --> 00:09:06.280 It's it addresses the political and administrative leadership 00:09:06.280 --> 00:09:07.520 level of cities. 00:09:08.160 --> 00:09:15.800 It actually gives the main principles that cities should obey, 00:09:16.880 --> 00:09:22.520 and it is applicable in all partner cities regardless of size, 00:09:22.800 --> 00:09:27.680 socio, economic context, organizational structures and cultures. 00:09:28.120 --> 00:09:34.960 And it is One of the main roles of the charter is to inspire public 00:09:35.000 --> 00:09:39.840 administrations to tackle problem in an efficient, transparent 00:09:40.320 --> 00:09:42.200 and creative way. 00:09:42.480 --> 00:09:49.920 But at the same way it should empower and engage civil servants, 00:09:49.920 --> 00:09:54.920 citizens and other stakeholders in creating clivable city. 00:09:56.600 --> 00:09:59.400 The second component is the Use Case Guide. 00:09:59.400 --> 00:10:03.760 We are right now in the process of creating the Use Case Guide. 00:10:04.840 --> 00:10:11.000 Its main role is to bring a good practices of livable cities but 00:10:11.040 --> 00:10:18.000 also to give a kind of road map how to apply PID principles 00:10:18.160 --> 00:10:25.120 to the certain to to reality and it helps in finding suitable 00:10:25.160 --> 00:10:30.920 approach for a specific context and also empower civil servants 00:10:30.920 --> 00:10:34.800 in applying PID methods. 00:10:35.760 --> 00:10:42.160 The last component of the program is PID training program and 00:10:42.440 --> 00:10:46.880 it's more oriented on train the trainers program. 00:10:47.160 --> 00:10:53.520 So how the PID change agents as multipliers of knowledge 00:10:53.760 --> 00:10:58.120 in city administration should act in order to achieve those 00:10:58.120 --> 00:10:58.640 goals. 00:10:59.440 --> 00:11:04.480 And both the leadership and the employee level at political 00:11:04.480 --> 00:11:10.920 and administrative decision makers also empowered to to use 00:11:10.920 --> 00:11:18.240 the principles of PID and basically how to do that, what's next? 00:11:18.240 --> 00:11:23.240 So the the journey towards livability, we are now in the process 00:11:23.240 --> 00:11:28.120 of let's say preparing test beds. 00:11:28.920 --> 00:11:33.360 So the the first objectives for the test beds are first of all 00:11:33.360 --> 00:11:39.400 to test PID principles and design approaches locally in order 00:11:39.400 --> 00:11:43.480 to deliver high quality, cost effective public services. 00:11:44.160 --> 00:11:48.920 And the second objective is to evoke design thinking and to work 00:11:48.920 --> 00:11:53.440 with PID approaches in public administrations for systemic 00:11:53.440 --> 00:11:56.920 and holistic delivery of public services. 00:11:57.480 --> 00:12:01.480 The topics that we are cover in our test beds are related strictly 00:12:01.480 --> 00:12:07.000 to the case studies that I will be very shortly talking about 00:12:07.000 --> 00:12:11.280 in a minute, but they are connected with activating city centres 00:12:11.280 --> 00:12:17.440 or with community LED local development or intercultural integrations. 00:12:17.800 --> 00:12:22.040 So basically it covers the topics that we have been already talking 00:12:22.040 --> 00:12:23.960 during the the conference. 00:12:25.440 --> 00:12:30.800 Right now we have six test beds in our partner cities. 00:12:31.440 --> 00:12:36.560 The first one is Keel, developing the adult Education Centre 00:12:37.160 --> 00:12:41.240 and transforming it into the third place, the place for all. 00:12:41.800 --> 00:12:46.280 Then we have also a test bed in Gdina, a network for of community 00:12:46.280 --> 00:12:51.920 centres, then in Denmark in Gulbert, soon one citizen, a plan, 00:12:51.920 --> 00:12:52.480 a place. 00:12:52.480 --> 00:12:58.880 It's more a kind of social oriented project and in coding back 00:12:58.880 --> 00:13:03.120 to the city centre and two more one in Pori. 00:13:03.920 --> 00:13:08.880 It's an old bus station as a creative hub and empowering neighbourhood 00:13:08.880 --> 00:13:15.720 associations in Riga coming to the first Test beds which is much 00:13:15.720 --> 00:13:17.880 more advanced right now. 00:13:18.320 --> 00:13:23.840 As I said before, it is the rethinking and improving public services 00:13:23.840 --> 00:13:28.960 by making the Centre for Adult Education more attractive and 00:13:29.600 --> 00:13:32.280 approachable for various target groups. 00:13:33.000 --> 00:13:38.320 And actually it was also a strong need from the Kill City to to 00:13:38.320 --> 00:13:41.800 go into that project and they believe it's it's really something 00:13:41.800 --> 00:13:44.920 that they should invest an effort to. 00:13:45.720 --> 00:13:48.840 Then we have the other testbed in party in Finland. 00:13:49.120 --> 00:13:56.040 It's much more oriented to let's say transforming some places 00:13:56.040 --> 00:13:58.200 into the creative hubs. 00:13:59.120 --> 00:14:05.440 And actually there there are two field of action, one is Pori 00:14:05.440 --> 00:14:09.040 old bus station and it is city owned property. 00:14:09.320 --> 00:14:12.920 And then we have business space in shopping mall that is also 00:14:12.920 --> 00:14:17.280 transformed to creative space and it's privately owned. 00:14:17.960 --> 00:14:23.160 And the main goal of this test bed is to bring life back to the city 00:14:23.160 --> 00:14:28.040 centre to revitalize also vacant spaces and actually the project 00:14:28.040 --> 00:14:32.840 was launched just rough after COVID when many especially this 00:14:32.840 --> 00:14:37.720 kind of public spaces and also spaces in the shopping malls were 00:14:38.040 --> 00:14:38.560 vacant. 00:14:38.560 --> 00:14:38.880 So. 00:14:38.880 --> 00:14:45.400 So this was the answer and actually there is a nice saying by Patrick 00:14:45.400 --> 00:14:50.720 Harvista, a change implementer who says that our goal is to create 00:14:50.760 --> 00:14:57.720 a more livable city centre by developing a routine of creativity 00:14:57.920 --> 00:15:03.480 and encouraging the city resident themselves to produce a livable 00:15:03.480 --> 00:15:04.440 city centre. 00:15:06.200 --> 00:15:12.560 The last Test that I will be talking about today is from Riga from 00:15:12.800 --> 00:15:13.440 Latvia. 00:15:14.080 --> 00:15:22.000 It's a project situated also in the city centre, but it's related 00:15:22.000 --> 00:15:27.240 to bottom up planning mechanism to give residents a more significant 00:15:27.840 --> 00:15:32.080 role in decision making process to to empower actually citizens 00:15:32.280 --> 00:15:37.280 by many different actions like mapping local stakeholders 00:15:37.600 --> 00:15:42.520 or facilitating networking between stakeholders and establish 00:15:42.600 --> 00:15:46.840 a strong local partnerships and others. 00:15:48.400 --> 00:15:55.120 And just to conclude, we have developed also the transnational 00:15:55.120 --> 00:15:58.520 community of practice and network. 00:15:59.000 --> 00:16:05.960 This is our goal to to do it by many different activities. 00:16:05.960 --> 00:16:10.480 One of them is the platform for knowledge exchange for enhancing 00:16:10.520 --> 00:16:12.880 livability through public interest design. 00:16:13.760 --> 00:16:16.760 The next one is of course promotion and transfer. 00:16:17.120 --> 00:16:21.720 The three components of the program so the Pitch Charter, the 00:16:21.880 --> 00:16:28.640 PID Use Case Guide and also training program and organising 00:16:28.640 --> 00:16:34.120 online seminars and awarding the the last but not least the Livable 00:16:34.120 --> 00:16:35.560 city label. 00:16:36.200 --> 00:16:43.040 So we encourage you to visit also our website and Instagram 00:16:43.040 --> 00:16:47.280 or download the brochure when you can find more information 00:16:47.280 --> 00:16:50.480 if you are interested in in the project, the journey towards 00:16:50.720 --> 00:16:51.480 livability. 00:16:51.480 --> 00:16:55.400 But as we said at the beginning, we are just in the process the 00:16:55.440 --> 00:16:59.080 the project finished in two thousand twenty five south probably 00:16:59.080 --> 00:17:04.320 then we will be able to present the whole outcomes of the project. 00:17:05.520 --> 00:17:06.240 Thank you very much. 00:17:16.920 --> 00:17:17.640 Thank you very much. 00:17:17.640 --> 00:17:21.200 Very interesting lecture and a perfect time discipline. 00:17:21.720 --> 00:17:26.640 And I would like to invite a group of professors, Professor Ustina 00:17:26.640 --> 00:17:34.320 Martinique, Pentek Claudia Amorim from Brasilia and Nico and 00:17:34.320 --> 00:17:37.040 Tila from Linde University. 00:17:37.040 --> 00:17:41.960 They will tell us about the energy transition pathways and investigating 00:17:41.960 --> 00:17:43.960 solar urban performance. 00:17:44.680 --> 00:17:45.560 The floor is yours. 00:17:47.240 --> 00:17:54.240 Oh, you'll be alone half of the group. 00:17:54.880 --> 00:17:59.360 And I'm sorry, my colleagues could not join us, but they are with us. 00:18:00.760 --> 00:18:06.360 So my presentation or our presentation will have three main 00:18:06.360 --> 00:18:09.680 parts, but we will start with the introduction who we are. 00:18:10.640 --> 00:18:10.840 Yeah. 00:18:13.120 --> 00:18:18.960 So we are the group of the researchers from two different continents, 00:18:18.960 --> 00:18:21.600 from South America and from Europe. 00:18:22.520 --> 00:18:27.680 And we won a grant, which is our own grant, for supporting international 00:18:27.680 --> 00:18:28.520 cooperation. 00:18:29.080 --> 00:18:32.960 And today with me, I'm just presenting alone, but actually my 00:18:32.960 --> 00:18:36.400 colleagues from this group are also here like Professor Miranovich, 00:18:36.400 --> 00:18:44.000 doctor Soko, doctor Skriptyinski, who are also preparing this 00:18:44.000 --> 00:18:44.440 grant. 00:18:46.080 --> 00:18:54.920 And our key question in this research group is to establish kind 00:18:54.920 --> 00:19:01.400 of a platform to join forces, research forces from two different 00:19:01.920 --> 00:19:06.840 continents, but actually also climate and also challenges 00:19:06.960 --> 00:19:09.200 urban context challenges. 00:19:11.320 --> 00:19:14.440 Our universities and the departments that we are coming from 00:19:14.440 --> 00:19:17.200 are very different. 00:19:17.680 --> 00:19:21.200 We are from the Department of Urban Planning, but for example 00:19:21.200 --> 00:19:24.880 Professor Claudia Amorim is from the Architecture department 00:19:24.880 --> 00:19:28.960 and she is dealing with the Sustainable Architecture and Professor 00:19:28.960 --> 00:19:32.760 Nico Gentila is from loan from energy simulations. 00:19:33.080 --> 00:19:37.760 So those different approaches brought us together to look for 00:19:38.000 --> 00:19:45.800 space efficient solar building complexes and we wanted in this 00:19:45.800 --> 00:19:52.000 pilot work identify solar potentials both in urban and architectural 00:19:52.000 --> 00:19:57.160 scale for possibly building more energy efficient or more efficient 00:19:57.160 --> 00:20:00.160 in many ways settlements. 00:20:00.800 --> 00:20:06.000 So that is why the keywords regarding energy transition or spatial 00:20:06.000 --> 00:20:09.680 energy efficiency are related to our work. 00:20:11.120 --> 00:20:16.800 But our general assumption is that in today's urban design, 00:20:17.840 --> 00:20:22.160 we can consider that passive solar gains and daylight. 00:20:22.480 --> 00:20:25.960 Should be used to reduce energy consumption in the buildings, 00:20:26.240 --> 00:20:30.480 but as well to improve comfort of the residents indoors and outdoors. 00:20:31.120 --> 00:20:38.040 So that is why we cooperate with also other researchers from 00:20:38.880 --> 00:20:43.840 Task seventy that are dealing with low carbon and high comfort 00:20:43.840 --> 00:20:48.880 integrated lighting solutions and this grant is taken under 00:20:49.240 --> 00:20:52.720 International Energy Agency program. 00:20:54.360 --> 00:20:57.600 So what are the challenges that we already know? 00:20:58.560 --> 00:21:03.760 The global challenges are that urbanisation is just changing 00:21:03.960 --> 00:21:11.880 our environment and population growth is expected to be quite 00:21:11.880 --> 00:21:12.160 huge. 00:21:12.160 --> 00:21:15.360 So it means also that the energy consumption will arise as it 00:21:15.360 --> 00:21:22.680 is predicted around two percent per year So of course as the cities 00:21:22.680 --> 00:21:26.960 are the main hubs and they just take two percent of the surface 00:21:27.600 --> 00:21:32.960 we need to put more effort into designing the cities done Maybe 00:21:34.600 --> 00:21:39.160 we have considered it earlier and especially right now when 00:21:39.160 --> 00:21:45.000 we do believe in the energy consumption within the cities, it's 00:21:45.240 --> 00:21:48.640 a huge and it's going to rise as it is expected. 00:21:50.400 --> 00:21:56.840 So solar urban performance as we believe is one of the element 00:21:56.840 --> 00:22:01.840 that maybe can help in the energy transition pathways because 00:22:02.160 --> 00:22:08.600 as it is said, we need to work on building and designing the cities 00:22:09.520 --> 00:22:14.000 in a way to promote adaptation to the climate change but also 00:22:14.000 --> 00:22:19.880 moving towards energy, the change of the energy production 00:22:19.880 --> 00:22:22.640 paradigm, that's the one element. 00:22:23.240 --> 00:22:28.200 But as many researchers already noted and urban morphology 00:22:28.560 --> 00:22:33.720 is key issue that determines overall energy consumptions in 00:22:33.720 --> 00:22:40.760 the city, but it's also as well potential for production energy 00:22:40.760 --> 00:22:41.400 locally. 00:22:42.320 --> 00:22:48.760 And especially when we look at the Polish market, our country 00:22:48.760 --> 00:22:52.720 became like the third most solar capacity in Europe. 00:22:53.720 --> 00:23:00.160 So energy generation is right now one of the key element layer 00:23:00.400 --> 00:23:03.960 of the solar urban performance that we do discuss and it's the 00:23:03.960 --> 00:23:06.840 picture from small town or town Cartuz. 00:23:07.280 --> 00:23:10.120 As you can see there is no roof without APV panel. 00:23:10.120 --> 00:23:15.040 So it's quite interesting to see how it has changed our landscape. 00:23:15.960 --> 00:23:21.880 Secondly, solar radiation has a significant role in the designing 00:23:21.880 --> 00:23:25.320 the energy efficient CT as we already mentioned. 00:23:25.560 --> 00:23:34.560 So how to maximise heating and daylight purposes is a key challenge 00:23:34.960 --> 00:23:39.480 and there are already some tools in the market that urban planners 00:23:39.480 --> 00:23:45.000 and designers can use to predict energy fluxes, for example. 00:23:45.200 --> 00:23:46.800 CTC is one of them. 00:23:47.480 --> 00:23:51.920 So the urban design is not anymore about the Urban Morphology, 00:23:52.120 --> 00:23:58.160 but it brings totally new simulations into the our workshop 00:23:59.200 --> 00:24:04.440 and as we discussed the solar energy building. 00:24:04.440 --> 00:24:09.560 Access to solar energy in the context of urban forms depend on 00:24:10.400 --> 00:24:17.200 spatial factors like for example the type of the building, the 00:24:17.200 --> 00:24:19.040 height, the distance between buildings. 00:24:19.200 --> 00:24:24.560 So all of the I would say physical elements that creates the form 00:24:24.600 --> 00:24:33.040 of the city and numerous of researchers doing their study regarding 00:24:33.040 --> 00:24:37.760 densification of the city and the daylight and the energy, solar 00:24:37.760 --> 00:24:41.040 energy gains already done. 00:24:41.200 --> 00:24:45.680 So the topic is not new but it's it needs to be maybe more highlighted 00:24:46.280 --> 00:24:52.840 right now as one of the key study that can be done. 00:24:54.120 --> 00:24:57.680 So the second layer which we have found is very important is the 00:24:57.680 --> 00:24:59.560 architecture of the building complexes. 00:24:59.560 --> 00:25:04.520 And it's not only due to the fact how dense we have to build, but 00:25:04.520 --> 00:25:08.960 also how to secure the living conditions within the building 00:25:08.960 --> 00:25:09.760 complexes. 00:25:11.360 --> 00:25:17.120 And as we already know, the sustainable building should employ 00:25:17.360 --> 00:25:21.840 solar strategies to reduce the use of primary energy and produce 00:25:21.840 --> 00:25:26.760 renewable energy, because the sunlight effect is a key aspect 00:25:26.760 --> 00:25:31.240 of building performers, heating, cooling and lighting and 00:25:31.720 --> 00:25:34.360 on site energy production. 00:25:34.800 --> 00:25:40.480 So I would say that those are those elements that can secure us, 00:25:40.680 --> 00:25:45.040 oops, more energy efficient structures. 00:25:45.720 --> 00:25:49.160 But it's not the only thing that we should take into consideration 00:25:49.160 --> 00:25:53.720 how to produce and minimise the energy use, but we should also 00:25:53.720 --> 00:25:54.880 think about the users. 00:25:54.880 --> 00:26:00.120 And there is the irradiation illuminance taken into the account. 00:26:00.400 --> 00:26:07.800 When we do discuss the accessibility to the daylight or daylight 00:26:07.800 --> 00:26:12.960 provision, it's an easier, easier to say so the daylight provision 00:26:12.960 --> 00:26:13.640 for the users. 00:26:13.640 --> 00:26:19.840 So it's not solar that can bring just new kind of an renewable 00:26:20.040 --> 00:26:22.880 energy, but the quality of living. 00:26:23.200 --> 00:26:26.680 And there is a numerous of new metrics in daylighting that can 00:26:26.720 --> 00:26:28.480 support us in design. 00:26:28.720 --> 00:26:32.800 And there are also some studies already done about the Oman morphology, 00:26:32.800 --> 00:26:39.040 how it shapes the, how it changes the conditions in the in the 00:26:39.040 --> 00:26:43.240 room while having different different forms. 00:26:44.240 --> 00:26:50.120 It can be those metrics can be both in the urban scale or in courtyard 00:26:50.120 --> 00:26:55.640 scale or even in the building scale already used in Scandinavia. 00:26:55.640 --> 00:26:58.560 It's like everyday practice. 00:26:59.520 --> 00:27:04.880 So the third layer is the daylight provision that we have already 00:27:04.880 --> 00:27:05.720 in the buildings. 00:27:06.080 --> 00:27:10.560 And it's not only the aspect that is let's say the new aspect, 00:27:10.560 --> 00:27:13.320 we heard it for many for hundreds of years. 00:27:14.080 --> 00:27:17.840 But the question is how we can right now densify the structures 00:27:17.840 --> 00:27:21.320 and they still provide the good lighting conditions. 00:27:21.960 --> 00:27:30.120 So some researchers started to combine those energy generation 00:27:30.120 --> 00:27:34.400 and use of energy in the in the buildings and then the daylight 00:27:34.400 --> 00:27:35.000 provision. 00:27:35.280 --> 00:27:40.600 But the question is if this this city in the very generic form 00:27:40.640 --> 00:27:45.360 is the city that we want to live in and we do believe that solar 00:27:45.360 --> 00:27:46.760 urban performance is much more. 00:27:46.760 --> 00:27:48.120 It's about the design. 00:27:48.520 --> 00:27:54.960 And then it's not only how to design within the solar energy regarding 00:27:54.960 --> 00:27:59.680 thermal aspects or daylight harvesting and and electricity 00:28:00.120 --> 00:28:03.360 generation by photovoltaics in the buildings, but we do believe 00:28:03.360 --> 00:28:04.360 that it's more. 00:28:04.680 --> 00:28:09.560 And this energy production is one element. 00:28:09.560 --> 00:28:13.640 But mitigate effects of urban Hitler island on a urban scale 00:28:13.640 --> 00:28:14.720 is the second effect. 00:28:14.720 --> 00:28:22.080 And how to create or sustain a good living conditions is a third 00:28:22.080 --> 00:28:27.560 a key aspect So this topic is also not new. 00:28:27.560 --> 00:28:30.600 We don't want to say that we were the first one who discussed it. 00:28:31.040 --> 00:28:37.800 There is a task sixty three at AIE where the solar neighbourhoods 00:28:37.800 --> 00:28:41.080 are already discussed. 00:28:42.280 --> 00:28:46.720 They mostly focus on active solar systems, so how to generate 00:28:46.720 --> 00:28:48.880 energy and passive. 00:28:49.400 --> 00:28:53.000 They propose some passive solar strategies which you can find 00:28:53.000 --> 00:28:54.000 in this article. 00:28:55.400 --> 00:28:59.880 We decided that in our research we will join forces with both 00:29:00.840 --> 00:29:06.040 our outroom group, super group and Task seventy group to look 00:29:06.040 --> 00:29:09.800 for compact and densified cities. 00:29:10.000 --> 00:29:15.400 But as well that will be with sufficient daylight and high high 00:29:15.480 --> 00:29:17.440 quality living conditions. 00:29:17.440 --> 00:29:23.200 So we would like to focus on both aspects, so densification plus 00:29:23.440 --> 00:29:30.840 users experience and in a sub task D of the task seventy in this 00:29:30.840 --> 00:29:38.080 grant there are case studies being in research that will look 00:29:38.080 --> 00:29:41.320 on real case studies and real life conditions. 00:29:41.640 --> 00:29:47.760 It will also be presenting some simulations, so some data statistics 00:29:47.760 --> 00:29:51.160 that will help us to find out what are the boundary conditions, 00:29:51.160 --> 00:29:52.360 what are the key factors. 00:29:52.800 --> 00:29:58.680 And at the end we will look for a building parameters that are 00:29:58.720 --> 00:30:03.440 actually very crucial in the way we densify our cities. 00:30:05.040 --> 00:30:09.200 And the research questions that we want to ask are how did those 00:30:09.200 --> 00:30:12.400 neighbourhood works, what are the regulations that shape them 00:30:12.400 --> 00:30:18.280 enough, especially how the energy is used and how we mitigate 00:30:18.280 --> 00:30:22.960 some effects plus bring a healthy environment. 00:30:24.000 --> 00:30:26.360 We already started with the students. 00:30:26.360 --> 00:30:29.840 We selected some case studies like Lund Bruns Hawk, which is 00:30:29.840 --> 00:30:34.600 said to be the iconic future neighbourhood inland. 00:30:35.320 --> 00:30:40.040 We also studied for example the king 's cross There are only just 00:30:40.040 --> 00:30:44.480 the beginning of the analysis with with our students and also 00:30:44.480 --> 00:30:45.800 our ganism. 00:30:47.160 --> 00:30:50.120 We also proposed some master thesis. 00:30:50.120 --> 00:30:54.720 So the work is not just behind the with the within the researchers 00:30:54.720 --> 00:30:59.360 there are some students involved and the topics will relate 00:30:59.400 --> 00:31:03.920 to people centre, urban transformation, decarbonisation 00:31:04.240 --> 00:31:08.240 and looking for some densification indicators. 00:31:08.640 --> 00:31:15.360 So those are the layers of our cooperation and we do hope to 00:31:15.680 --> 00:31:18.440 have some outcomes within a year. 00:31:19.760 --> 00:31:24.120 And we hope that based on our research we will be able to deliver 00:31:24.120 --> 00:31:28.440 to the research warden for for our practice as well some new guidelines 00:31:28.440 --> 00:31:34.080 and some operational measurements that will help us in the future 00:31:34.080 --> 00:31:38.920 to build sustainable and resilient neighbourhoods. 00:31:39.840 --> 00:31:41.760 But what are the challenges for the future? 00:31:42.440 --> 00:31:49.000 Actually we got a lot of policies and regulations and integrated 00:31:49.280 --> 00:31:51.240 solutions are one of the key element. 00:31:51.440 --> 00:31:55.560 And we do believe that integration of different fields is a key 00:31:55.560 --> 00:32:00.920 aspect of bringing new way of researching and designing the 00:32:00.920 --> 00:32:01.480 cities. 00:32:02.240 --> 00:32:07.600 And then just to sum up who will be living in the future, a city 00:32:07.600 --> 00:32:13.480 or the generation that's gonna be live in the city let's say in 00:32:13.840 --> 00:32:14.720 thirty years. 00:32:15.360 --> 00:32:20.680 We ask our students and it's not about the sum what they they wrote. 00:32:20.680 --> 00:32:27.160 But for me it was kind of a interesting to see that the young generation 00:32:27.160 --> 00:32:31.960 do believe that ecological so ecology is important for them 00:32:32.280 --> 00:32:35.800 and when they think about the beautiful city, it's greenery 00:32:35.800 --> 00:32:41.520 green city is something that they expect to live in and inaccessible. 00:32:41.520 --> 00:32:45.120 When we discuss the inclusive, probably if you already know 00:32:45.240 --> 00:32:49.120 new Bauhaus, you are aware of those key free words. 00:32:49.120 --> 00:32:50.560 So that is why we ask them. 00:32:51.120 --> 00:32:54.680 But then we ask them what is the important when they are choosing 00:32:55.080 --> 00:32:56.560 their place of living? 00:32:57.080 --> 00:33:01.040 And it was very interesting to see that the daylight provision 00:33:01.080 --> 00:33:06.640 and the view out is equal, almost equal with the greenery and 00:33:06.640 --> 00:33:08.880 with the services accessibility. 00:33:09.160 --> 00:33:14.520 So it means that maybe our work is still worth looking at because 00:33:14.520 --> 00:33:18.520 at the beginning you may feel like it's not the most important 00:33:18.600 --> 00:33:23.680 element but then when you are actually looking for a flat, it 00:33:23.680 --> 00:33:26.560 becomes more and more important. 00:33:27.040 --> 00:33:32.280 So just to sum up the needs, green will be always the first one 00:33:32.280 --> 00:33:36.480 but still the daylight provision is on on the table. 00:33:37.360 --> 00:33:42.440 So based on those Introjection, I just wanted to show you what 00:33:42.440 --> 00:33:46.680 are the progresses of our research within our international 00:33:46.680 --> 00:33:52.200 and our group and we are more than welcome to join us and thank 00:33:52.200 --> 00:33:53.800 you for this opportunity. 00:34:00.280 --> 00:34:00.960 Good afternoon. 00:34:02.920 --> 00:34:05.840 For starters, I'd like to thank for the possibility of presenting 00:34:05.840 --> 00:34:06.960 at this conference. 00:34:07.120 --> 00:34:16.960 I'll be representing today our entire consortium which includes 00:34:17.360 --> 00:34:23.240 Ince de la Miesta which is association, a leader of our project 00:34:23.240 --> 00:34:25.960 in which we have been active for four years. 00:34:25.960 --> 00:34:29.720 So I represent the grants University of Technology and we also 00:34:29.720 --> 00:34:32.680 have in the consortium the Academy of Fine Arts in grants. 00:34:34.160 --> 00:34:41.600 I'll tell you about the strategy of regenerating markets, Open 00:34:41.600 --> 00:34:42.280 air markets. 00:34:42.280 --> 00:34:44.240 It's a result of four year research. 00:34:45.360 --> 00:34:52.560 It ended in twenty twenty two Right now we are at the face of various 00:34:52.560 --> 00:34:54.160 implementations throughout Poland. 00:34:54.760 --> 00:34:59.400 The project was financed from the National Science and Research 00:34:59.400 --> 00:35:00.080 Center. 00:35:05.360 --> 00:35:07.800 Well, we had one main goal. 00:35:09.640 --> 00:35:15.720 We wanted to investigate the condition, organizational condition, 00:35:15.720 --> 00:35:21.800 economic condition of markets in Poland and in large cities 00:35:21.800 --> 00:35:30.120 and provincial cities in order to prepare a strategy of revitalizations 00:35:30.200 --> 00:35:36.720 of of city markets, concentrating on social, economic activation 00:35:37.440 --> 00:35:44.600 and improvement to the degraded free market areas, open air 00:35:44.600 --> 00:35:45.360 market areas. 00:35:45.880 --> 00:35:48.760 Why am I presenting it here at this type of conference? 00:35:48.760 --> 00:35:51.120 Well, because the topic was sort of forgotten in Poland. 00:35:52.160 --> 00:35:57.960 We do have about two thousand open air markets in Poland. 00:35:59.040 --> 00:36:03.720 That's why it seems that the subject is definitely viable, important. 00:36:03.960 --> 00:36:05.800 So let me present you the results. 00:36:07.160 --> 00:36:12.200 So we got started with this sort of image. 00:36:12.200 --> 00:36:15.160 It's an image that represents placemaking. 00:36:19.840 --> 00:36:23.720 We wanted to created places which would be places for everyone, 00:36:23.720 --> 00:36:34.000 for everything inclusive spaces where we could both sell articles. 00:36:34.000 --> 00:36:38.760 They would become an exchange hubs, buy and sell hubs, but also 00:36:39.160 --> 00:36:42.560 it would be a place for various social events or integration 00:36:42.560 --> 00:36:44.680 of local residents. 00:36:46.440 --> 00:36:50.480 Oh, we talk a lot about fifteen minute cities, about local centers 00:36:50.480 --> 00:36:51.000 etcetera. 00:36:51.000 --> 00:36:57.200 So we think that these places are very often very good starting 00:36:57.200 --> 00:36:57.680 points. 00:36:59.440 --> 00:37:09.120 Here we have I have a few pictures illustrating earlier actions, 00:37:09.200 --> 00:37:11.760 which were carried out by the National City Placemaking City, 00:37:11.760 --> 00:37:15.320 where it turned out but a small change, not even a pricey one, 00:37:15.320 --> 00:37:21.440 was enough to create for a day a temporary place where city residents 00:37:21.440 --> 00:37:26.040 could meet, do something together, even both older ones and 00:37:26.040 --> 00:37:26.680 younger ones. 00:37:27.080 --> 00:37:30.960 Here we have a picture just from outside the building we're in, 00:37:33.240 --> 00:37:38.560 so we'll be a place both for younger and older participants. 00:37:38.560 --> 00:37:41.960 Good animation planning of the events. 00:37:42.560 --> 00:37:49.240 It seems to us that that was our line of thinking during the the 00:37:49.240 --> 00:37:55.800 project and coming back to markets, open air markets, how to 00:37:55.800 --> 00:38:01.640 make from these well rather places in disarray, how to, how to 00:38:01.640 --> 00:38:09.800 turn them into proper valuable public spaces as we we have probably 00:38:09.800 --> 00:38:12.480 seen this diagram of their presentations today. 00:38:12.480 --> 00:38:15.320 But these are places which combine the social, economic and 00:38:15.320 --> 00:38:18.720 economic zones and environmental zones. 00:38:19.960 --> 00:38:22.880 Here we have a number of the most important characteristics 00:38:24.120 --> 00:38:26.600 why they're able to do it because well because they integrate 00:38:26.600 --> 00:38:27.520 local community. 00:38:27.520 --> 00:38:33.640 There are places where we can spend our free time and they have 00:38:34.480 --> 00:38:37.680 certain level of trust in in their local community which has 00:38:37.680 --> 00:38:45.720 been build on the four years they allow allow for economic inclusivity 00:38:45.760 --> 00:38:49.200 that we we can also sell quality products. 00:38:49.200 --> 00:38:54.920 We can shorten supply chains, we're local and we are acting pro 00:38:54.920 --> 00:38:58.720 ecologically for example producing fewer packaging when we 00:38:58.720 --> 00:39:00.920 sell at such markets. 00:39:02.240 --> 00:39:05.560 So let's stop for a second at the word regeneration. 00:39:06.600 --> 00:39:09.000 During the project we've exchanged the word localization to 00:39:09.000 --> 00:39:13.760 regeneration, the word which in its very construction has a 00:39:13.760 --> 00:39:18.360 certain problem which seems to be vital. 00:39:19.520 --> 00:39:25.600 What I mean here is that there's a lack of intergenerational exchange. 00:39:26.200 --> 00:39:29.080 And since up in their markets that we've known for over three 00:39:29.080 --> 00:39:33.600 decades reaching into the dictionary, we can read that regeneration 00:39:33.600 --> 00:39:38.160 means regaining health, physical fitness, equilibrium, etcetera. 00:39:38.560 --> 00:39:41.960 And this is in fact what we wanted to do in regenerating these places. 00:39:44.400 --> 00:39:49.520 We researched all marketplaces in large cities in Poland, but 00:39:49.520 --> 00:39:54.280 we've concentrated on the pilot project which we carried out 00:39:54.280 --> 00:40:00.880 as a prototype and Oliva market for which we've created visual 00:40:00.880 --> 00:40:01.880 identification. 00:40:01.880 --> 00:40:04.880 We've renovated the place and tell you more about it. 00:40:04.880 --> 00:40:09.520 When in two thousand and eighteen we entered the market it looked 00:40:09.720 --> 00:40:18.440 like this There was basically no space for for market activities. 00:40:18.440 --> 00:40:20.200 It was dominated by parking. 00:40:20.200 --> 00:40:24.800 Usually goods were sold straight out of cars, products of. 00:40:25.480 --> 00:40:26.280 Dubious quality. 00:40:26.280 --> 00:40:27.400 They were not categorized. 00:40:27.400 --> 00:40:29.040 You would just walk from car to car. 00:40:31.000 --> 00:40:35.840 There was just a number of of sellers who would sell out of boxes 00:40:35.840 --> 00:40:37.400 out of cartoons. 00:40:37.400 --> 00:40:39.080 Some kinds of boxes. 00:40:41.320 --> 00:40:47.240 Now we travel around various cities in Poland and this problem 00:40:47.240 --> 00:40:48.880 seems to be really widespread. 00:40:49.920 --> 00:40:52.040 This is what it looks like in a lot of cities. 00:40:52.040 --> 00:40:57.560 Still, we carried out the participatory project process. 00:40:57.560 --> 00:41:02.120 We carried out a number of workshops with local communities, 00:41:02.320 --> 00:41:07.960 with those who who sell at the markets. 00:41:07.960 --> 00:41:11.520 These were workshops on management and architecture, on visual 00:41:11.520 --> 00:41:12.520 identifications. 00:41:12.960 --> 00:41:16.360 Unfortunately, the process was difficult. 00:41:17.080 --> 00:41:19.440 I can't say whether it was successful. 00:41:19.440 --> 00:41:22.240 We definitely wanted to accomplish more. 00:41:23.760 --> 00:41:27.760 The priorities of the groups we're working with were completely 00:41:27.760 --> 00:41:34.080 different from the ones we thought the city was expecting. 00:41:35.760 --> 00:41:40.600 And so let me just say iconically by saying that the process was 00:41:40.760 --> 00:41:41.600 very challenging. 00:41:42.440 --> 00:41:44.040 We also carried out monitoring. 00:41:44.400 --> 00:41:52.520 We took a look at how salary spark what they sell when we also counted 00:41:53.640 --> 00:41:59.840 the number of participants while taking count. 00:42:00.240 --> 00:42:04.880 It turned out that we had fifteen twenty people in the market 00:42:04.880 --> 00:42:14.480 on average on market days so in fact it was slowly dying Our pilot 00:42:14.480 --> 00:42:20.640 project started on the first day of Pandemia, but this also created 00:42:20.640 --> 00:42:31.160 a certain certain certain access point to talk about sells it 00:42:31.160 --> 00:42:35.720 on open air as an alternative to selling in under under closed 00:42:35.720 --> 00:42:37.440 roof in shopping centers. 00:42:37.440 --> 00:42:42.080 So we started out by drawing out lines, by prototyping. 00:42:43.280 --> 00:42:46.720 We carried out very long discussions about the numbers of cars 00:42:46.720 --> 00:42:50.160 which absolutely have to park there. 00:42:50.160 --> 00:42:51.160 We ordered them. 00:42:51.160 --> 00:42:57.520 We created places where we had to remove goods from the cars. 00:42:57.520 --> 00:43:02.120 We created these temporary divisions in order to see how the 00:43:02.120 --> 00:43:03.800 marketplace would start functioning. 00:43:04.960 --> 00:43:07.560 Of course, we've created a lot of drawings, visualizations. 00:43:07.560 --> 00:43:17.280 We were looking at how to carry out the process, got to renovate 00:43:17.880 --> 00:43:26.240 the floor, how to place the sellers, what zones to established. 00:43:27.080 --> 00:43:35.960 And turned out that that the best placement will be a simple layout 00:43:36.200 --> 00:43:40.560 simply based on ordering the space and leaving the three existing 00:43:40.560 --> 00:43:48.520 trees which were originally to be cut out to create garbage. 00:43:48.520 --> 00:43:51.920 Collecting space, exchanging the pavement which is horrible 00:43:51.920 --> 00:43:55.600 conditioning creating stands for selling for the street. 00:43:55.600 --> 00:43:59.960 And as I've said, we agreed to have ten parking spaces, plus two 00:44:00.480 --> 00:44:07.400 delivery vans We would leave the market hall without any intervention 00:44:07.400 --> 00:44:09.160 even though we did a little bit there. 00:44:09.560 --> 00:44:11.320 These are our visualizations. 00:44:12.320 --> 00:44:17.480 We wanted to create a place and that's why we have this the symbol, 00:44:17.480 --> 00:44:21.880 this totem that would promote the place that this is Oliva, this 00:44:21.880 --> 00:44:27.040 is the market in Oliva and it does function still Oliva market. 00:44:28.160 --> 00:44:34.800 It also shows you how simple ordering even the color based coloring 00:44:34.840 --> 00:44:41.280 of the tents or placement of these boxes which we actually patented 00:44:42.000 --> 00:44:47.280 which at first are used to for for for selling from, but later 00:44:47.280 --> 00:44:48.440 can be used as benches. 00:44:48.880 --> 00:44:57.720 How it well orders the space and in twenty twenty twenty twenty 00:44:57.720 --> 00:45:02.640 one we started to implement the changes We repainted the entire 00:45:02.640 --> 00:45:03.000 hall. 00:45:03.000 --> 00:45:09.680 We've created new visual identifications for the for the souls. 00:45:09.680 --> 00:45:14.240 We've created the totems so that the residents could identify 00:45:14.240 --> 00:45:14.960 with the place. 00:45:15.520 --> 00:45:19.200 We've exchanged the pavement, which is also quite difficult 00:45:19.360 --> 00:45:27.520 because we had to here by by historical works conservator 00:45:27.520 --> 00:45:27.880 here. 00:45:28.560 --> 00:45:31.640 But eventually we did come to an agreement. 00:45:31.640 --> 00:45:34.600 We also created these rainwater markets. 00:45:34.880 --> 00:45:40.800 Every seller received their own identification of their shop. 00:45:42.040 --> 00:45:45.560 For example, this lady here on the right has forty types of apples 00:45:47.040 --> 00:45:53.440 which she grows in the in a village called Mawaswoensa and she 00:45:53.440 --> 00:45:56.680 was very happy when we came with idea to call her shop with that 00:45:56.680 --> 00:45:57.000 name. 00:45:59.320 --> 00:46:08.240 And aside from this modernization, we carried out a number of 00:46:08.320 --> 00:46:11.440 events which we animated. 00:46:11.440 --> 00:46:13.680 I'll show you the calendar of these events. 00:46:13.680 --> 00:46:14.840 There were quite a few of them. 00:46:15.640 --> 00:46:20.600 Every Sunday from May to September, we had another event taking 00:46:20.600 --> 00:46:24.200 place and some of them really drew a lot of people. 00:46:24.840 --> 00:46:29.600 During one of the moderns of the flea market that we organized 00:46:29.600 --> 00:46:34.720 there, I was able to count five hundred people So from fifteen 00:46:34.720 --> 00:46:40.080 people before intervention, we had up to five hundred people 00:46:40.080 --> 00:46:48.560 during events so a lot of interest was created Here we see our 00:46:48.560 --> 00:46:52.600 colleague called Trish who was selling a handmade pottery. 00:46:54.640 --> 00:47:01.040 This is Flower Oliva, one of the very popular events very much 00:47:01.960 --> 00:47:03.640 liked on the net. 00:47:04.800 --> 00:47:07.640 We also started cooperating with the Olivia Business Center 00:47:08.240 --> 00:47:10.360 where we're going to meet today in the evening. 00:47:11.000 --> 00:47:15.120 It was our strategic partner who financed various materials 00:47:16.240 --> 00:47:22.160 who also marketed and advertise the market Oliva to its employees. 00:47:22.560 --> 00:47:27.400 That's why we started to really go networking here and the last 00:47:27.400 --> 00:47:29.800 event which is also being continued. 00:47:32.200 --> 00:47:36.960 These are night flea markets who draw a lot of interest. 00:47:37.440 --> 00:47:41.680 Anybody can come try, sell anything they want. 00:47:43.200 --> 00:47:49.240 The place is lit and I think they really are a constant element 00:47:49.280 --> 00:47:50.320 of the of the district. 00:47:50.320 --> 00:47:55.080 Aside from all these changes, we also took care about promoting. 00:47:55.840 --> 00:47:59.760 We create Internet page, a new brand you can market that we monitored 00:48:00.520 --> 00:48:07.640 who likes us, what posts are most like, and we were able to monitor 00:48:08.560 --> 00:48:10.680 all of this process of probation. 00:48:11.080 --> 00:48:12.800 Here is the calendar I've mentioned. 00:48:14.080 --> 00:48:16.080 These are events just from a single year. 00:48:16.080 --> 00:48:24.760 They all took place on Sundays and we've drew, we drew five 00:48:24.760 --> 00:48:26.640 basic conclusions from that pilot project. 00:48:26.640 --> 00:48:31.040 First of all, we can see the problem connection with demographics 00:48:32.160 --> 00:48:37.920 of the age of the selling and buying, the lack of intergenerational 00:48:37.920 --> 00:48:42.920 exchange regeneration, it's it's quite a problem on most marketplaces 00:48:43.280 --> 00:48:43.920 in Poland. 00:48:44.320 --> 00:48:48.160 Management and control is also very important. 00:48:48.800 --> 00:48:53.720 Attracting new sellers, also creating new regulations because 00:48:53.720 --> 00:48:57.560 certain regulations have been the same for over thirty years 00:48:57.560 --> 00:49:01.040 and they and they have nothing in common with today's reality. 00:49:02.440 --> 00:49:08.640 Also control of the selling, actually controlling how they 00:49:08.840 --> 00:49:10.360 how they're positioned, how they sell. 00:49:10.640 --> 00:49:15.680 The Third Point is animation and planning various events for 00:49:15.680 --> 00:49:21.160 the community, local community also theme based events for 00:49:21.160 --> 00:49:28.120 selling various projects also networking and that is including 00:49:28.120 --> 00:49:32.240 the marketplace into entire network of services and connections 00:49:32.240 --> 00:49:37.320 within a network so that it can actually actually make ourselves 00:49:37.320 --> 00:49:39.280 known on this local map. 00:49:39.560 --> 00:49:42.920 And the last point, triangulation, that is being active on three 00:49:42.920 --> 00:49:46.240 fields, sometimes economic, social and spatial. 00:49:48.520 --> 00:49:53.400 And after pilot project and studies in other cities, we were 00:49:53.400 --> 00:50:00.200 able to actually create our strategy, our general strategy 00:50:00.200 --> 00:50:02.480 and let me present the main conclusions. 00:50:03.120 --> 00:50:06.400 We think we have five to ten years to regenerate the regeneration 00:50:06.400 --> 00:50:08.880 program to introduce the regeneration program because the 00:50:09.440 --> 00:50:14.480 aging Society of market sellers and lack of intergenerational 00:50:14.480 --> 00:50:18.880 exchange means that in ten years we might have we might not have 00:50:20.040 --> 00:50:24.360 place to go to anymore Basically the marketplaces will remain 00:50:24.360 --> 00:50:25.400 without sellers. 00:50:25.760 --> 00:50:28.000 So these are the most important thesis. 00:50:28.440 --> 00:50:34.080 Very shortly education is very important in order to so that 00:50:34.080 --> 00:50:37.400 the the self. 00:50:37.400 --> 00:50:40.880 Governments are aware of the fact that marketplaces are an important 00:50:40.880 --> 00:50:42.680 are important points for communities. 00:50:42.680 --> 00:50:49.480 They're important points for for sell for for district based 00:50:49.480 --> 00:50:50.360 activities. 00:50:50.720 --> 00:50:54.360 They have to be taken into account in urban strategy. 00:50:54.840 --> 00:51:03.040 Furthermore we need outside support because operator of marketplaces 00:51:03.040 --> 00:51:07.440 usually don't have the means to carry out greater renovations 00:51:09.040 --> 00:51:09.800 or upgrade. 00:51:10.400 --> 00:51:12.600 And the most important thesis is management. 00:51:12.600 --> 00:51:16.760 Let me read out, effective management of markets is the most 00:51:16.760 --> 00:51:17.160 important. 00:51:17.160 --> 00:51:20.120 Currently marketplaces are not managed properly and they're 00:51:20.120 --> 00:51:25.560 not controlled to which refrains the community, the municipality 00:51:25.560 --> 00:51:28.560 from quick reacting and has led to years, two years of neglect 00:51:28.560 --> 00:51:31.680 which are hard to moderate. 00:51:33.680 --> 00:51:39.160 So modernization is essential to have success, but it's not 00:51:39.520 --> 00:51:42.920 sufficient in itself to bring life to the marketplace. 00:51:42.920 --> 00:51:49.360 And so don't have to exchange the pavement or revitalize stands, 00:51:49.360 --> 00:51:49.880 etcetera. 00:51:49.880 --> 00:51:51.040 You need a holistic change. 00:51:51.040 --> 00:51:55.080 It's also very important to take care of the image and to remember 00:51:55.080 --> 00:51:59.600 that it's public space, public space which should be part of 00:51:59.600 --> 00:52:05.280 an entire public space system and we should have places of high 00:52:05.920 --> 00:52:10.000 quality which would be open to public access. 00:52:11.400 --> 00:52:13.920 So after the seven main thesis, we have four actions. 00:52:13.920 --> 00:52:16.720 We should take actions within the sphere of management. 00:52:17.320 --> 00:52:20.960 That is, we need organizational support for attracting new 00:52:20.960 --> 00:52:26.600 salaries, for management of activities, also organizational 00:52:26.600 --> 00:52:33.880 support, animation and planning of events in these places. 00:52:34.280 --> 00:52:38.720 Of course, modernization is very important to supporting operators 00:52:38.720 --> 00:52:43.040 both financially and in official documents. 00:52:43.040 --> 00:52:46.960 So we're able to modify these places for the better. 00:52:47.120 --> 00:52:49.600 And last point, promotion 's very important creating local 00:52:49.600 --> 00:52:55.440 brands so that all markets can actually make a place for itself 00:52:55.440 --> 00:53:04.000 in local district Here a slide about the fact that marketplaces 00:53:04.080 --> 00:53:08.480 are good places for closed cycle economy. 00:53:08.480 --> 00:53:12.240 At this for example, there farmers are selling then the waste 00:53:12.240 --> 00:53:14.320 can be used for bio fertilizer. 00:53:14.320 --> 00:53:18.920 Then they can also be used as these shock points. 00:53:19.240 --> 00:53:24.400 For example, broken equipment can be taken. 00:53:24.400 --> 00:53:25.600 They're fixed. 00:53:25.800 --> 00:53:33.240 Given Second Life, we wrote about three scenarios using the 00:53:33.240 --> 00:53:37.760 strategies because in each and every one of these scenarios 00:53:37.760 --> 00:53:44.320 we need to financing and certain change in thinking about markets 00:53:44.320 --> 00:53:44.880 in the city. 00:53:45.680 --> 00:53:50.640 The first scenario is accepting general city strategy of market 00:53:50.640 --> 00:53:54.320 development and creating a unit in every city which would be 00:53:54.320 --> 00:53:58.240 responsible for implementation and supervision of these changes. 00:53:58.240 --> 00:54:05.400 The second scenario is cooperation of NGOs, that is lending 00:54:06.040 --> 00:54:10.040 program support to NGOs, NGO organizations which later become 00:54:10.040 --> 00:54:15.800 social operators of markets or direct subsidies to market operators 00:54:16.120 --> 00:54:22.680 in the form of financial implementation of comprehensive modernization 00:54:23.480 --> 00:54:24.000 program. 00:54:24.160 --> 00:54:28.600 This when we carry out this transformation of various cities, 00:54:28.600 --> 00:54:34.800 we we tell people that one is able to to look for various programs 00:54:34.800 --> 00:54:37.840 of support, for example, green transformation, shortening 00:54:37.840 --> 00:54:38.720 supply chains. 00:54:39.320 --> 00:54:46.240 And I know that the city of Warsaw will, I think, apply for subsidies 00:54:46.440 --> 00:54:47.120 in this area. 00:54:47.160 --> 00:54:49.360 Thank you very much for your attention. 00:54:49.760 --> 00:54:56.680 I encourage you to contact me if you if any city is interested 00:54:56.680 --> 00:54:57.520 in cooperation with us. 00:54:57.520 --> 00:55:01.000 We have three more years to carry out six more implementations. 00:55:01.640 --> 00:55:06.160 So thank you very much for your time, thank you very much. 00:55:06.160 --> 00:55:13.320 And now I would like to give the floor to young planners starting 00:55:13.320 --> 00:55:20.240 with the voice from Bulgaria portion. 00:55:20.240 --> 00:55:25.960 Antonio Pereda will tell us about Play the City, how gaming simulation 00:55:25.960 --> 00:55:28.160 can improve participatory processes. 00:55:28.680 --> 00:55:36.440 The case of Jacunda perhaps Jacunda, apologies. 00:55:36.800 --> 00:55:40.680 OK our presentation take a talk about the project that there 00:55:40.680 --> 00:55:44.280 was a more practical approach and different to the process for 00:55:44.280 --> 00:55:48.680 the participation and consequently the transformation of 00:55:48.680 --> 00:55:49.080 a city. 00:55:49.880 --> 00:55:55.600 That project we have decided to present is the case of study of 00:55:55.600 --> 00:55:57.280 the gaming simulation called Jokunda. 00:55:58.640 --> 00:56:03.280 Jokunda is the result of the work and design within the diversity 00:56:03.280 --> 00:56:05.360 laboratory of which we are part. 00:56:07.800 --> 00:56:11.000 Let's start with the definition of urban gaming simulation, 00:56:11.600 --> 00:56:14.200 gaming simulation or training technique for professional 00:56:14.200 --> 00:56:16.720 and practitioners and learning technique for students and 00:56:16.720 --> 00:56:17.360 researchers. 00:56:17.680 --> 00:56:20.920 Gaming simulation may be defined as the simulation of the effect 00:56:20.920 --> 00:56:23.800 of decision made through the assumption of roles governed by 00:56:23.800 --> 00:56:27.160 rules, which is a role balanced mixture of role simulation and 00:56:27.160 --> 00:56:29.520 game in which the simulation concerned as model. 00:56:30.240 --> 00:56:35.000 Now we started to some information about today the game Jokunda. 00:56:38.360 --> 00:56:43.800 So the name of this game was chosen, the word the Jokunda, which 00:56:43.800 --> 00:56:49.920 in Latin means joyful and the fun has represented of whole aspect 00:56:50.480 --> 00:56:53.480 the impact that the holiday city should have. 00:56:54.400 --> 00:57:00.000 We have decided to play this simulation game to the phenomena 00:57:00.000 --> 00:57:05.440 of our tourist and participation in the local development. 00:57:06.400 --> 00:57:14.080 So the gaming consists then the two board and representing two 00:57:14.080 --> 00:57:18.360 invented cities characterized by the presence of different 00:57:18.360 --> 00:57:19.760 service and attraction. 00:57:20.160 --> 00:57:24.240 two team of tourists that to the hand of their holders returning 00:57:24.800 --> 00:57:28.760 their cities and they witnessed the transformation that took 00:57:29.960 --> 00:57:32.480 place during the their ascent. 00:57:34.320 --> 00:57:37.960 There are different type of tourists and there are the two different 00:57:38.160 --> 00:57:40.440 activity card and different emotional card. 00:57:43.600 --> 00:57:49.480 OK the game was divided in two phases and the first phase represent 00:57:49.480 --> 00:57:53.120 the holiday for both the teams a moment of fun and new experience 00:57:53.120 --> 00:57:57.080 and relax and the tourists are intent on enjoying their holidays 00:57:57.080 --> 00:58:00.320 and don't not notice and worry about the change taking place 00:58:00.320 --> 00:58:00.840 in the city. 00:58:01.320 --> 00:58:07.240 The second phase begins when the the end of the the holiday and 00:58:07.240 --> 00:58:09.920 the return of the teams to their city of origins. 00:58:10.200 --> 00:58:15.640 These are that the tourists that that was only tourists return 00:58:15.640 --> 00:58:21.120 in their city like citizens with own social status and affiliation 00:58:21.720 --> 00:58:25.080 and the scenario they find in front of them is unrecognisable 00:58:25.080 --> 00:58:26.000 and modified city. 00:58:26.720 --> 00:58:29.800 During this phase a project plan must be drawn up that involves 00:58:29.800 --> 00:58:32.640 the entire population for the restoration, safeguarding, 00:58:32.880 --> 00:58:36.240 improvement and transformation of the city through the need 00:58:36.240 --> 00:58:38.400 of citizen and demand of the tourist. 00:58:43.560 --> 00:58:47.400 OK the goal of the game is to the make the people who decided to 00:58:47.480 --> 00:58:54.080 go on vacation more aware, putting them in the front of the habit 00:58:54.200 --> 00:58:55.400 of hover tourism. 00:58:56.120 --> 00:59:01.200 The game highlights the half that that hover tourists can't 00:59:01.200 --> 00:59:07.880 have physically and territory and repercussion of the population. 00:59:08.560 --> 00:59:14.600 The aim of the games is also to hello the population at the end 00:59:14.600 --> 00:59:17.560 of the holidays to the manager of their city. 00:59:17.600 --> 00:59:24.840 With new service, nutrition and precaution throughout, they're 00:59:24.840 --> 00:59:29.080 needed of the advice that tourists will have left. 00:59:31.920 --> 00:59:40.160 This drawing tries to represent the breaking the balance that 00:59:40.160 --> 00:59:42.320 naturally exists in the city. 00:59:42.320 --> 00:59:49.760 Between tourists and services and attractions we we use the 00:59:49.840 --> 00:59:55.360 the game in different case studies and we have three application, 00:59:57.400 --> 00:59:59.840 so the first one, this one it's the first. 01:00:00.680 --> 01:00:05.440 Case study Jokunda was used in the city of Payao in the north of 01:00:05.440 --> 01:00:12.960 Thailand on ten and eleven May for twenty twenty three It's a 01:00:13.120 --> 01:00:17.000 big city and have a one hundred twenty five thousand persons 01:00:17.360 --> 01:00:21.920 and it's characterized for the flooding the lake payao In this 01:00:21.920 --> 01:00:26.240 case, the application of the game simulation was focused on 01:00:26.240 --> 01:00:30.360 the balance of the needs of the environmental planning and the 01:00:30.360 --> 01:00:33.360 economical development caused on the tourism. 01:00:35.080 --> 01:00:36.840 Oh, I'm sorry. 01:00:37.520 --> 01:00:40.200 So this one is the second case study. 01:00:41.320 --> 01:00:46.000 We stay in Alghero on twenty five and thirty May twenty twenty 01:00:46.000 --> 01:00:53.280 three and then we play the simulation game with the student This 01:00:53.280 --> 01:00:55.400 one is the oriental participation. 01:00:57.440 --> 01:01:01.080 We use the gaming simulation for the approach with the different 01:01:01.080 --> 01:01:01.520 approach. 01:01:08.320 --> 01:01:13.160 We use these approaches for the encourage young people for the 01:01:14.880 --> 01:01:16.680 enrolling planning faculty. 01:01:19.840 --> 01:01:27.400 OK the last case study was Enthusia in Switzerland and we make 01:01:27.400 --> 01:01:30.120 the the game simulation in August two thousand twenty three 01:01:30.440 --> 01:01:34.160 And the Fuji is a completely different case study between from 01:01:34.160 --> 01:01:37.640 the first two case studies and we found ourselves in front of 01:01:37.640 --> 01:01:41.920 our population of forty inhabitants and it's a village in the 01:01:41.920 --> 01:01:44.680 mountain in front of a huge them. 01:01:45.440 --> 01:01:48.640 Young planners and some villagers participated in the simulation game. 01:01:48.720 --> 01:01:53.040 That's creating an exchange of ideas which ended with the two 01:01:53.040 --> 01:01:57.120 project balanced between the demands of the citizens and the 01:01:57.120 --> 01:01:58.560 criticism of the planners. 01:02:00.320 --> 01:02:07.360 That one is the poster of one of the of the project that try to represent 01:02:08.520 --> 01:02:14.200 the the, the transformation. 01:02:14.200 --> 01:02:21.360 But the process can be for Fuzio in two thousand fourteen and 01:02:21.640 --> 01:02:28.920 we can see the difference between Fuzio like fantastic, unique, 01:02:28.920 --> 01:02:35.960 special, original identity through the the Smaug and the the 01:02:35.960 --> 01:02:36.760 modern city. 01:02:38.080 --> 01:02:40.840 Through the analysis of the two application, we can say that 01:02:40.840 --> 01:02:43.320 the simulation game can actually be used with the completely 01:02:43.320 --> 01:02:47.080 completely different contests with different population 01:02:47.080 --> 01:02:50.760 and people with different education and professional training. 01:02:51.280 --> 01:02:54.520 For example, we have been able to see that it's possible to use 01:02:54.520 --> 01:03:00.720 this the game simulation with any person, for example, young 01:03:00.720 --> 01:03:06.680 planners in Fuzio and Payao, the teenagers in Algaro and any 01:03:06.680 --> 01:03:09.440 type of citizens in Fuzio and Payao. 01:03:16.880 --> 01:03:20.760 So can the game simulation be a urban playing tool? 01:03:21.280 --> 01:03:25.480 Yes, With the case study of Jokunda, we wanted to highlight the 01:03:25.480 --> 01:03:30.960 important of the simulation game has a tool that can be replicated 01:03:31.000 --> 01:03:35.960 and different contexts that can accompany different process. 01:03:36.520 --> 01:03:40.440 The simulation game is a tool that contribute contribute of 01:03:41.640 --> 01:03:42.920 to the consolidation. 01:03:43.120 --> 01:03:47.040 Consolidation of the learning of the process and information 01:03:47.400 --> 01:03:53.680 helps in collaboration between the people and has been an intuitive 01:03:53.680 --> 01:03:56.960 role of in terms of participation. 01:03:59.720 --> 01:04:03.880 The conclusion of the the project was that the simulation game 01:04:03.960 --> 01:04:07.160 can increase participatory processes through the collaboration 01:04:07.160 --> 01:04:11.000 of professional, expert and citizens the ability to have multiple 01:04:11.000 --> 01:04:12.240 opinions working together. 01:04:12.680 --> 01:04:16.480 Participation is a fundamental with in urban planning and in 01:04:16.480 --> 01:04:20.640 the planning processes as well as within the game as it allows 01:04:20.640 --> 01:04:24.320 us to have a look at what is identified as a solution by expert 01:04:24.880 --> 01:04:27.560 and what is the request and indicated by citizens who live in 01:04:27.560 --> 01:04:29.000 the city and know it more closely. 01:04:29.480 --> 01:04:33.960 Jokunda simulates reality and represents A simplify and more 01:04:33.960 --> 01:04:39.360 playful picture of criticism in the city, allowing a more inclusive 01:04:39.400 --> 01:04:41.800 participation in planning choices. 01:04:42.440 --> 01:04:43.200 Thank you for the attention. 01:04:52.400 --> 01:04:55.400 Thank you for this very surprising presentation. 01:04:55.400 --> 01:04:58.400 I I thought you would be talking about SIM City or something, 01:04:58.400 --> 01:05:01.000 but still board games are on. 01:05:04.200 --> 01:05:04.560 Tell us. 01:05:04.560 --> 01:05:05.000 Continue. 01:05:05.000 --> 01:05:06.240 We are my national now. 01:05:06.280 --> 01:05:09.880 We are continuing our presentations by young planners. 01:05:09.880 --> 01:05:14.920 I would like to invite Luciano Panatronca who will tell us about 01:05:16.480 --> 01:05:20.240 planning for urban freight innovation ecosystems. 01:05:23.560 --> 01:05:28.600 The floor is yours, don't see any one of you, so that's good. 01:05:30.040 --> 01:05:35.240 My name is Luciano and my presentation today is titled Planning 01:05:35.240 --> 01:05:38.120 for Urban Freight Innovation Ecosystems. 01:05:39.440 --> 01:05:45.120 As we all know here in this room, cities are major carbon emitters 01:05:45.120 --> 01:05:48.480 and in this context transport plays a very important role as 01:05:48.480 --> 01:05:54.080 it accounts for around a quarter of emissions in the EU Adding 01:05:54.080 --> 01:05:57.920 to these, the transport sector is actually really hard to decarbonize. 01:05:57.920 --> 01:06:02.960 As you may see on the graph, emissions have actually increased 01:06:03.200 --> 01:06:07.480 from the nineteen nineties baseline which is used for climate 01:06:07.480 --> 01:06:14.120 targets The drivers for this increase are usually the increase 01:06:14.120 --> 01:06:20.920 of E commerce and which leads to the increase of light good vehicles 01:06:22.360 --> 01:06:24.000 Some cities are no. 01:06:25.560 --> 01:06:30.440 Some cities are implementing measures to try to bring these 01:06:30.440 --> 01:06:31.280 emissions down. 01:06:31.280 --> 01:06:35.880 However, these are scattered and systematic approach is needed 01:06:36.320 --> 01:06:40.640 in terms to think not just of technological and operational 01:06:40.680 --> 01:06:46.480 innovations, but also to be more democratic and ask city stakeholders 01:06:46.720 --> 01:06:48.960 what their views are on the on the matter. 01:06:49.560 --> 01:06:56.040 Innovation in this sense responds to a core evolutionary development 01:06:56.400 --> 01:07:00.480 between niche radical innovations, which is these innovations 01:07:00.480 --> 01:07:04.040 that have the capacity to alter the trajectory of emissions 01:07:05.680 --> 01:07:08.600 regimes, which are the set of rules and regulations, and user 01:07:08.600 --> 01:07:13.160 preferences, and landscapes, which are the macro variables 01:07:13.400 --> 01:07:16.040 such as the economy and the value system. 01:07:16.720 --> 01:07:21.160 Therefore, organising innovation ecosystems can aid to the 01:07:21.160 --> 01:07:25.320 transition to more sustainable systems, in this case urban 01:07:25.320 --> 01:07:25.760 freight. 01:07:27.440 --> 01:07:33.160 So how do cities plan in the context of and increased demands 01:07:33.160 --> 01:07:35.480 for the movement of goods? 01:07:36.720 --> 01:07:41.080 An industry that can be defined as complex by it's by variety 01:07:41.080 --> 01:07:46.680 of stakeholders, an innovation journey that needs long term 01:07:46.680 --> 01:07:47.120 planning. 01:07:47.120 --> 01:07:51.320 So we're thinking about between ten or twenty years for a transfer 01:07:51.320 --> 01:07:56.760 of innovation to start until it's implemented and a low uptake 01:07:56.760 --> 01:08:02.160 of planning skills in a sector that has not being considered 01:08:02.440 --> 01:08:08.320 a public sector responsibility As for example, public transport 01:08:08.520 --> 01:08:09.400 is a public sector. 01:08:09.400 --> 01:08:13.600 So we have really good public transport planners, but there 01:08:13.600 --> 01:08:15.200 are not so many for freight. 01:08:16.440 --> 01:08:27.360 So basically, yes, what we have, yeah, what we have here is that 01:08:27.360 --> 01:08:35.240 a framework in which we have, oh sorry, we have factors affecting 01:08:35.240 --> 01:08:39.280 the planning for implementation of innovation and we have policies 01:08:39.280 --> 01:08:40.080 and incentives. 01:08:40.080 --> 01:08:41.920 We have the role of the public sector. 01:08:42.040 --> 01:08:45.360 In this case the role of public sector is where the powers and 01:08:45.360 --> 01:08:47.040 the responsibilities public sector has. 01:08:47.040 --> 01:08:55.480 But also if city has a vision and and also the local knowledge 01:08:55.480 --> 01:08:57.880 of ecosystems and the contextual factors. 01:08:58.360 --> 01:09:02.480 All of these influence the the the planning for innovation ecosystems 01:09:02.480 --> 01:09:08.640 which in turn results in different ways to organise these ecosystems. 01:09:08.640 --> 01:09:11.560 As you can see there, there are many transition oriented living 01:09:11.560 --> 01:09:13.920 labs or smart CT agencies. 01:09:14.280 --> 01:09:21.440 There are many ways to organise this by looking at many case studies 01:09:22.240 --> 01:09:28.680 I designed and incentives framework which has internal incentives 01:09:28.880 --> 01:09:34.160 which are directed to the public service offering, external 01:09:34.160 --> 01:09:38.760 incentives which are directed to the logistics stakeholders, 01:09:38.760 --> 01:09:43.280 in this case, not just public private sector, but also the third 01:09:43.280 --> 01:09:47.960 sector and more in particular research institutions and universities. 01:09:48.440 --> 01:09:51.680 And finally those incentives that are directed at improving 01:09:51.920 --> 01:09:53.680 the city conditions. 01:09:53.960 --> 01:09:56.600 And this is really important because these are the conditions 01:09:56.600 --> 01:10:01.840 that make it favourable or not for innovation to happen in a place. 01:10:03.800 --> 01:10:09.120 So today I bring you to case studies of a very particular way of 01:10:09.120 --> 01:10:12.560 incentivizing innovation ecosystems in urban freight and 01:10:12.560 --> 01:10:14.040 they're called innovation calls. 01:10:14.600 --> 01:10:21.080 They are based in two yes two Horizon projects, one of them in 01:10:21.080 --> 01:10:27.080 which I participated on and these case studies were happened 01:10:27.080 --> 01:10:32.520 in the city of Antwerp, which is a city of around half a million 01:10:32.520 --> 01:10:35.360 people and is the capital city, Not the capital city, it's the 01:10:35.360 --> 01:10:41.800 most important city of the Flemish part of Belgium and also it 01:10:41.800 --> 01:10:44.360 has one of the largest ports in Europe. 01:10:45.120 --> 01:10:50.200 In twenty sixteen the city of antwerp within the portis project 01:10:52.040 --> 01:10:58.280 designed marketplace for mobility which is a platform for partnerships 01:10:58.640 --> 01:11:06.680 in which service operators and logistics stakeholders would 01:11:07.000 --> 01:11:14.000 project will support projects will propose projects for decreasing 01:11:14.000 --> 01:11:17.360 emissions and improving public transport and also freight 01:11:18.720 --> 01:11:23.880 Then they designed three types of innovation calls and the first 01:11:23.880 --> 01:11:30.880 one, sorry the first one was looking at promotional support 01:11:31.640 --> 01:11:35.360 in which so for example if you were an entrepreneur and you wanted 01:11:35.360 --> 01:11:40.760 to improve your product, they will support you through ACT agency 01:11:40.760 --> 01:11:43.280 called Smart Ways of Antwerp. 01:11:43.920 --> 01:11:52.680 Then they did two calls a year for financial support and also 01:11:52.680 --> 01:11:58.240 the the promotional support and most importantly they use public 01:11:58.240 --> 01:12:04.520 procurement as a long term strategy to procure to mobility apps 01:12:04.760 --> 01:12:07.720 which are actually working now. 01:12:07.800 --> 01:12:11.480 I mean they're being used now for moving around the city. 01:12:12.360 --> 01:12:17.280 And most importantly the results of these innovation calls 01:12:17.800 --> 01:12:23.840 were really good in the sense that many of the new trips, freight 01:12:23.840 --> 01:12:31.520 trips were taken by E bike, E bikes which was a a new thing back 01:12:31.520 --> 01:12:31.880 then. 01:12:32.360 --> 01:12:38.720 Now it's much more widespread and the the best thing that happened 01:12:38.720 --> 01:12:44.040 was that actually in the second, in the second call they did Urban 01:12:44.040 --> 01:12:50.040 Freight stakeholders use this partnership, this, this market 01:12:50.040 --> 01:12:54.520 based for mobility to consolidate inbound logistics therefore 01:12:55.720 --> 01:13:00.200 minimizing the the trips that they need for getting their products 01:13:00.200 --> 01:13:01.240 to the warehouses. 01:13:02.800 --> 01:13:12.880 The second project is in Lucca is in city in in Italy, in 01:13:12.880 --> 01:13:15.760 Tuscany and the background was a bit different. 01:13:16.280 --> 01:13:21.040 They don't have a port and they have a very like historical wall 01:13:21.040 --> 01:13:25.560 city centre and they have a big issue with poor air quality. 01:13:26.320 --> 01:13:30.480 They have, it's a very industrial part of Italy in the north. 01:13:30.920 --> 01:13:34.200 So what they did was in twenty ten they created an environmental 01:13:34.200 --> 01:13:38.320 zone which actually turned into a traffic limited zone with 01:13:38.320 --> 01:13:42.480 some access regulations and since then they've been engaging 01:13:42.480 --> 01:13:47.160 with stakeholders They trialled Urban Consolidation Centre 01:13:47.440 --> 01:13:52.840 which didn't work after they had to remove the financial incentives. 01:13:52.840 --> 01:14:00.680 So they were, they had but this didn't stop you know engage, I 01:14:00.680 --> 01:14:05.080 mean the engagement with the stakeholders and actually because 01:14:05.080 --> 01:14:07.800 they were participating in the same projects at centre they 01:14:07.920 --> 01:14:09.160 it's called Sunplus. 01:14:09.200 --> 01:14:14.160 They got to know about this innovation called example and they 01:14:14.160 --> 01:14:17.120 decided to follow a similar path. 01:14:17.800 --> 01:14:25.600 They defined a system of a sustainability ranking in which logistic 01:14:25.600 --> 01:14:30.480 operators would gain will gain equal points based on the access 01:14:30.480 --> 01:14:34.280 to the city centre and certain other variables. 01:14:35.120 --> 01:14:39.960 And they the ones that got the highest scores were invited to 01:14:39.960 --> 01:14:41.240 logistic round tables. 01:14:41.720 --> 01:14:46.120 In these logistic round tables they they have a direct contact 01:14:46.120 --> 01:14:51.960 with the mayor and its team and they had some clear preferences 01:14:51.960 --> 01:14:57.800 for other innovations that were not in this in the city and obviously 01:14:57.880 --> 01:15:02.360 it was good for the for their CSR because they were seen as climatic 01:15:03.400 --> 01:15:04.080 champions. 01:15:04.360 --> 01:15:07.480 So it was like a win, win type of situation. 01:15:07.760 --> 01:15:12.200 And the round tables are continuing this year and probably next 01:15:12.200 --> 01:15:16.320 year again as they actually proposed to go back to the urban consolidation 01:15:16.320 --> 01:15:22.480 center, but this time with some probably some private financial 01:15:22.480 --> 01:15:23.080 incentives. 01:15:25.240 --> 01:15:32.480 What we have seen for in these two case studies is the the possibility 01:15:32.480 --> 01:15:37.440 of cities to participate in these type of projects and exchange 01:15:38.520 --> 01:15:43.880 knowledge and most importantly, how the experience of one city 01:15:44.160 --> 01:15:48.720 can alter the implementation, planning of innovation in another 01:15:48.720 --> 01:15:49.160 city. 01:15:49.960 --> 01:15:54.400 That's why in Antwerp pass the torch, let's say to to Luca. 01:15:56.280 --> 01:16:00.520 What is also very interesting is that the characteristics and 01:16:00.520 --> 01:16:05.040 the relative position of the city and its stakeholders can actually 01:16:05.160 --> 01:16:07.920 influence a lot on the implementation of innovation. 01:16:08.680 --> 01:16:13.120 For example, in the case of Luca, the Urban Consolidation Centre 01:16:13.520 --> 01:16:14.280 didn't work. 01:16:14.280 --> 01:16:18.040 But on another project, a little more recent one in Madrid called 01:16:18.040 --> 01:16:22.960 Lead, the Urban Consideration Centre is actually working really 01:16:22.960 --> 01:16:23.280 well. 01:16:24.280 --> 01:16:29.560 In both cases the public sector has taken the lead to define what 01:16:29.560 --> 01:16:32.080 sustainability means in these innovation calls and that's 01:16:32.480 --> 01:16:33.520 that's very interesting. 01:16:33.520 --> 01:16:40.120 And also they linked these calls to suppress state funding. 01:16:40.600 --> 01:16:44.560 Obviously the European Union as they paid for officers time 01:16:44.880 --> 01:16:48.520 to well to have to have these projects. 01:16:48.520 --> 01:16:55.320 Obviously the next steps of this, which is part of my research 01:16:55.960 --> 01:17:01.400 is to model different types of planning frameworks from short 01:17:01.400 --> 01:17:07.720 term to medium and long term ways of organizing these ecosystems 01:17:07.720 --> 01:17:13.120 that are conducive to increasing innovation ecosystems with 01:17:13.120 --> 01:17:16.080 the aim of obviously reducing emissions. 01:17:16.640 --> 01:17:17.720 And that's all. 01:17:17.760 --> 01:17:18.760 Thank you very much. 01:17:25.760 --> 01:17:26.760 Thank you very much. 01:17:27.240 --> 01:17:35.160 And the last presentation of the day right before our exciting 01:17:35.160 --> 01:17:40.200 plans for the evening Celeste Moretto who will tell us about 01:17:40.200 --> 01:17:42.040 Valentino urban Park restoration. 01:17:42.880 --> 01:17:47.320 We almost made it to the end, so I will try not to be boring, I promise. 01:17:49.280 --> 01:17:54.200 So the project I focused on is a research I made about regeneration 01:17:54.200 --> 01:17:59.280 of a Turin urban park, which is called Valentino Park and its 01:17:59.280 --> 01:18:04.200 name is given by Valentino Castle which is the one in the background 01:18:04.720 --> 01:18:06.480 and it's a royal residence. 01:18:07.000 --> 01:18:12.040 So the first question I was asked was how this topic could be related 01:18:12.040 --> 01:18:15.440 to the main theme of this call. 01:18:15.800 --> 01:18:21.120 And I will start with these simple lines introducing the concept 01:18:21.120 --> 01:18:22.880 of contemporary urban park. 01:18:23.440 --> 01:18:28.720 So this idea, this word came out after an internship with Polytechnical 01:18:28.720 --> 01:18:34.640 of Touring and the team I collaborated with was in charge of establishing 01:18:34.640 --> 01:18:40.080 new strategies to make parks modern, innovative and resilient. 01:18:40.840 --> 01:18:49.720 So this contemporary urban park is related also to the the effects 01:18:49.720 --> 01:18:55.560 of pandemic, the pandemic wave where more most of the people 01:18:55.560 --> 01:18:59.160 started realizing the importance of green areas and public 01:18:59.160 --> 01:19:01.960 spaces as a way to escape from the ordinary. 01:19:03.160 --> 01:19:08.560 So as cities is continually growing, I think it's been put too 01:19:08.560 --> 01:19:12.720 much pressure and too much expectation on finding new places 01:19:13.520 --> 01:19:15.520 to cope with the needs of population. 01:19:15.560 --> 01:19:23.560 So in this situation why don't we think of park as if they should 01:19:23.640 --> 01:19:28.560 adhere or be adequated to the already existing structure Because 01:19:28.560 --> 01:19:33.920 most of the city and we'll see for touring, they have a really 01:19:33.920 --> 01:19:35.880 cohesive and dense structure. 01:19:36.440 --> 01:19:41.680 So it's really difficult to to modify the urban, the urban sense. 01:19:42.120 --> 01:19:47.920 Of course this is a representation of touring and these are just 01:19:47.920 --> 01:19:49.720 some general dates. 01:19:49.800 --> 01:19:55.840 I datas I I found on the report made by Leg Ambiente and as you can 01:19:55.840 --> 01:20:00.040 see touring has not been in the upper position in the last year 01:20:00.280 --> 01:20:05.240 for many categories and this is an evidence that show how this 01:20:05.240 --> 01:20:11.240 city is has not been able to cope with different needs of population 01:20:11.240 --> 01:20:12.720 in the last two years. 01:20:13.200 --> 01:20:19.520 So of course inhabitants changed them their mind about hobbies, 01:20:19.520 --> 01:20:21.280 about about what they want. 01:20:21.800 --> 01:20:28.800 And so the the city has to face this problem And I I was just trying 01:20:28.800 --> 01:20:32.200 to point it out the the park, which is this one. 01:20:32.200 --> 01:20:36.800 OK I focused on, sorry, just a quick stop. 01:20:39.960 --> 01:20:43.240 So why I chose Valentino Park? 01:20:43.320 --> 01:20:49.800 Well this park reflected like all the transformation that occurred 01:20:49.800 --> 01:20:56.720 in in the city from yeah well from one hundred and fifty seven 01:20:56.800 --> 01:21:05.120 years ago to the current situation So the the park started changing 01:21:05.200 --> 01:21:09.400 as the urban centre is going under different transformations. 01:21:10.240 --> 01:21:14.520 It started from like an agricultural era where area where there 01:21:14.520 --> 01:21:19.560 was nothing except for the river and then it slowly became a public 01:21:19.560 --> 01:21:28.640 garden in which people hosted a lot of universal exhibition 01:21:28.840 --> 01:21:35.000 car race until from in nineteen ninety seven Then it became like 01:21:35.040 --> 01:21:38.840 a UNESCO site, but just because there was Valentino Castle in 01:21:38.840 --> 01:21:39.120 it. 01:21:39.960 --> 01:21:50.160 So the research sorry, can I just assume that this is a park just 01:21:50.200 --> 01:21:54.000 for the the presence of green areas or trees? 01:21:54.440 --> 01:21:56.200 Well, it's not really. 01:21:56.440 --> 01:21:58.720 These things are not the most important. 01:21:59.480 --> 01:22:03.440 Indeed you as you can say from the numbers there are the thirty 01:22:03.440 --> 01:22:09.280 percent of the streets are for both pedestrian and for cars 01:22:09.640 --> 01:22:14.280 and the thirty six percent of places and areas and buildings 01:22:14.280 --> 01:22:21.640 are unused or abandoned So the research then converge into finding 01:22:21.640 --> 01:22:23.680 some application. 01:22:23.920 --> 01:22:29.280 Well, this is study cases I just chose that worked well where 01:22:29.280 --> 01:22:33.520 they were planned and the two main action I wanted to point it 01:22:33.520 --> 01:22:39.520 out for the park was well, the action that would maximize the 01:22:39.600 --> 01:22:43.160 contemporary the needs of contemporary urban park is better 01:22:43.160 --> 01:22:44.840 quality of public spaces. 01:22:46.040 --> 01:22:53.440 So insert new functionalities promoting a decrease of less 01:22:53.480 --> 01:22:57.800 unused area and buildings and at the same time promoting A resilient 01:22:57.800 --> 01:22:58.320 system. 01:22:58.680 --> 01:23:02.840 So with little approaches of urban gardening that could help 01:23:02.840 --> 01:23:06.800 to increase the quality of soil and air. 01:23:07.440 --> 01:23:09.200 What does this means mean? 01:23:09.600 --> 01:23:14.240 It means that we have to drop growth opportunity based on the 01:23:14.240 --> 01:23:15.240 local context. 01:23:15.240 --> 01:23:20.440 So you have to know, you have to have better knowledge of the place 01:23:20.440 --> 01:23:23.520 you are going to plan and to work on. 01:23:25.280 --> 01:23:32.560 So I then I a study define a strategic framework and I just pointed 01:23:32.560 --> 01:23:36.720 out some of the strategies I decided to apply just to make you 01:23:36.720 --> 01:23:37.680 aware of it. 01:23:38.040 --> 01:23:44.960 And I can say that the most important thing is making actions 01:23:44.960 --> 01:23:50.440 to going back to the origins which means approaches and operation 01:23:50.440 --> 01:23:54.880 to bring back the image of the park, which means a better balance 01:23:54.880 --> 01:24:00.800 between green and pavement streets and also more occasion, 01:24:00.800 --> 01:24:06.480 more occasion in terms of new furniture, new functionality 01:24:06.480 --> 01:24:10.800 to make people aware of the history of the park and what they can 01:24:10.800 --> 01:24:12.360 do inside the park. 01:24:14.200 --> 01:24:19.480 OK this is just a three D visualization I just wanted to point it out. 01:24:19.560 --> 01:24:24.120 And this street, well, this image is not really effective because 01:24:24.160 --> 01:24:28.560 I can assure you on weekends it's full of cars and pedestrian 01:24:28.880 --> 01:24:31.840 they cannot really have the possibility to walk by. 01:24:32.240 --> 01:24:39.120 So the image I want to reproduce is yeah, reducing the the parking 01:24:39.120 --> 01:24:44.440 lots of course and then introducing promoting an action to make 01:24:44.440 --> 01:24:48.480 the the place more resilient, which is the introduction of a 01:24:48.480 --> 01:24:59.520 rain garden which helps the the place to to well to be able to support 01:24:59.520 --> 01:25:05.080 the the summer drought and to be able to conserve like water to 01:25:05.080 --> 01:25:06.360 to create a water storage. 01:25:07.160 --> 01:25:14.800 And also in this case as you can see here was at the time a disco 01:25:15.000 --> 01:25:16.440 which is not used anymore. 01:25:16.440 --> 01:25:21.680 So now it's only growing trees and grass and the thing I wanted 01:25:21.680 --> 01:25:24.840 to to do was creating an open theatre. 01:25:25.080 --> 01:25:29.400 Since the since Valentino Park has been hosting a lot of exhibition 01:25:29.400 --> 01:25:33.480 and performances, I wanted to to stay in line with that original 01:25:33.480 --> 01:25:34.120 project. 01:25:35.240 --> 01:25:41.560 And this is of course free and accessible to actors, dancer, 01:25:42.280 --> 01:25:46.880 musician, whatever wants to to to be present. 01:25:47.800 --> 01:25:53.960 So all these strategies can really make an effective approach 01:25:53.960 --> 01:25:54.560 in the city. 01:25:55.320 --> 01:26:01.240 Well, they could, but I think we have to kind of have an open mind 01:26:01.280 --> 01:26:03.840 and have systematic view. 01:26:05.280 --> 01:26:08.560 So the first thing to do is chasing continuity. 01:26:09.240 --> 01:26:15.200 As I show you in this most of the parks are located on the outline 01:26:15.200 --> 01:26:17.360 of the of the municipalities. 01:26:17.360 --> 01:26:19.880 So this is just a first step. 01:26:19.920 --> 01:26:25.200 The the the next step will be try to connect all these green areas 01:26:25.880 --> 01:26:32.200 in order to well of course trying to better understand the neighbourhood 01:26:32.200 --> 01:26:33.480 they are put it in. 01:26:34.160 --> 01:26:41.440 So not apply strategies just in confusion and then the the connection 01:26:41.440 --> 01:26:47.960 of this park could easily lighten the the expectation and the 01:26:47.960 --> 01:26:54.440 quality well expected for from central areas which cannot bear 01:26:54.440 --> 01:26:59.040 any more qualitative qualitative standards for every person. 01:26:59.440 --> 01:27:04.920 And the main idea is to to create this so called ecocity award 01:27:07.000 --> 01:27:13.680 made by richard register where small gesture using natural 01:27:13.680 --> 01:27:19.520 resources can do a difference for the habitants and the quality 01:27:19.520 --> 01:27:22.120 of life of people So that's it. 01:27:22.120 --> 01:27:22.560 Thank you. 01:27:32.970 --> 01:27:33.850 Thank you very much. 01:27:33.850 --> 01:27:40.840 It was the last presentation today to hand over to Professor Lawrence. 01:27:41.120 --> 01:27:42.600 Thank you very much for your invitation. 01:27:44.640 --> 01:27:47.000 Well, since we speak English, we'll continue speaking English 01:27:47.000 --> 01:27:47.720 at the moment. 01:27:47.920 --> 01:27:50.680 I'd like to thank you for the first day of the conference. 01:27:50.680 --> 01:27:54.880 And my personal observation is that it's quite emblematic that 01:27:54.880 --> 01:27:57.880 we started from the extremely comprehensive overview of that, 01:27:57.880 --> 01:28:01.560 how cities can be planned and transformed and we ended up with 01:28:01.560 --> 01:28:02.680 the project about park. 01:28:02.680 --> 01:28:07.240 So this is a kind of very nice correlation. 01:28:07.840 --> 01:28:11.880 I just want to mention that many of these cases which have been 01:28:11.880 --> 01:28:15.960 discussed here today in the different presentations also can 01:28:15.960 --> 01:28:19.840 be reflected in the problems and issues which we have which we 01:28:19.840 --> 01:28:21.760 are dealing with here in Gdansk. 01:28:22.200 --> 01:28:25.640 Tomorrow you are going to get more comprehensive overview of 01:28:25.800 --> 01:28:28.760 some of the projects which are on the agenda at the moment. 01:28:29.120 --> 01:28:32.600 Not all of them, probably just today's will be not so long enough 01:28:32.600 --> 01:28:35.800 to give you the full presentation of that what we are dealing 01:28:35.800 --> 01:28:39.320 with, but just a sample and there's a flavour I would say probably 01:28:39.320 --> 01:28:43.360 you're going to get some tomorrow Regarding tomorrow we also 01:28:43.360 --> 01:28:45.520 have an evening event. 01:28:45.800 --> 01:28:49.280 So you are more than welcome to come over to this top floor of the 01:28:49.960 --> 01:28:55.520 of this of the skyscraper that we are going to have a nice presentation 01:28:55.800 --> 01:28:57.600 of the of the area. 01:28:57.600 --> 01:29:01.880 Well, not not not presentation, an opportunity to view the city 01:29:01.880 --> 01:29:02.880 from the above. 01:29:04.520 --> 01:29:07.240 Well, you know, I mean it's not the only skyscraper in not the 01:29:07.240 --> 01:29:11.080 only Polish cities, but there is usually a joke that the skyscrapers 01:29:11.080 --> 01:29:13.680 are good because when you go to them, you do not see them, right. 01:29:13.680 --> 01:29:16.160 So this is how it looks like in this case. 01:29:17.160 --> 01:29:22.880 We are very happy that Olivia Centre, which is the developer 01:29:22.880 --> 01:29:28.080 of that, has decided not only to look at this as a business park, 01:29:28.480 --> 01:29:31.400 but they are searching for the new model of the city. 01:29:31.400 --> 01:29:36.160 So from that point of view, I would like each and everyone of us 01:29:36.160 --> 01:29:39.960 to look at that as a project in the making and the project in the 01:29:39.960 --> 01:29:40.760 transformation. 01:29:41.160 --> 01:29:44.400 Because it actually is the place which is going to become one 01:29:44.400 --> 01:29:49.040 of the new centres, one of the new hubs of the future city, which 01:29:49.040 --> 01:29:52.480 is part of the new Urban Development strategy that we are crafting 01:29:52.480 --> 01:29:52.840 today. 01:29:52.840 --> 01:29:57.160 And actually right now just above us in the workshop room, there 01:29:57.160 --> 01:30:01.520 are ongoing discussions regarding the city development strategy. 01:30:02.000 --> 01:30:05.920 The Vice Mayor, Mississippi Jalak was discussing about today 01:30:05.920 --> 01:30:08.840 in the morning after the question from one of our colleagues. 01:30:09.240 --> 01:30:14.800 So this is actually an opportunity for us to have a look at this 01:30:14.800 --> 01:30:15.680 space. 01:30:16.040 --> 01:30:20.320 I know it's dark, but we are actually going to have have polar 01:30:20.320 --> 01:30:22.240 lights today probably. 01:30:22.240 --> 01:30:26.320 So maybe we can we'll have a chance if the weather allows to see 01:30:26.320 --> 01:30:29.040 them or the Northern Lights as they are called Surrey. 01:30:30.840 --> 01:30:33.960 So we will probably have a have a chance to see them tonight. 01:30:34.680 --> 01:30:39.880 But also regarding this event, those of you who are based in the 01:30:39.880 --> 01:30:45.640 Mercure or Ibis hotel or in any other place around, we have provided 01:30:45.680 --> 01:30:49.840 a bus which is going to leave at seven from the Mercure Hotel. 01:30:50.080 --> 01:30:53.480 So if you want to get there by bus you are free to join us. 01:30:53.800 --> 01:30:56.480 Be there at seven sharp in front of the Mercure Hotel. 01:30:56.480 --> 01:31:00.240 I hope that we will find enough space for all the delegates who 01:31:00.240 --> 01:31:04.040 want to use this opportunity and when the bus is going to bring 01:31:04.040 --> 01:31:07.480 you back a few hours later after you are ready to come back, so 01:31:07.480 --> 01:31:08.280 to speak, right? 01:31:08.840 --> 01:31:18.480 And also I have to say that many of you were asking questions about 01:31:18.480 --> 01:31:20.600 the place which we are in at the moment. 01:31:21.040 --> 01:31:25.640 And also many of you have been asking questions about what is 01:31:25.640 --> 01:31:27.600 the history of this area and so on. 01:31:28.040 --> 01:31:30.440 So we have actually anticipated these questions. 01:31:30.440 --> 01:31:35.320 So that's why a year ago we have commissioned a report regarding 01:31:35.320 --> 01:31:37.760 the Western Front of the Gdansk city centre. 01:31:38.080 --> 01:31:40.040 This is not the final name for that. 01:31:40.040 --> 01:31:42.880 We are in discussion with Madam Mayor about it, how it actually 01:31:42.880 --> 01:31:43.760 should be named. 01:31:44.160 --> 01:31:48.760 So we have some ideas, but what is important is that we have commissioned 01:31:48.760 --> 01:31:52.920 a report about the history and up to today development of that 01:31:52.920 --> 01:31:53.960 which was just published. 01:31:54.000 --> 01:31:58.400 And actually I have these books in Polish and in English. 01:31:58.400 --> 01:32:01.440 They're quite heavy unfortunately, but we have Polish and English 01:32:01.440 --> 01:32:02.640 versions about that. 01:32:03.960 --> 01:32:08.200 Tomorrow you are going to meet the author and he will have a presentation 01:32:08.200 --> 01:32:12.840 and there will be an official launch of the book and everybody 01:32:12.840 --> 01:32:16.560 will have a chance to get to, to get free of charge a copy of that. 01:32:16.560 --> 01:32:19.680 This is provided by by my office. 01:32:19.680 --> 01:32:22.800 So I hope you will enjoy reading on the way back. 01:32:23.320 --> 01:32:26.080 But since I know that some of you are leaving tomorrow morning 01:32:26.080 --> 01:32:29.200 like Richard, unfortunately he didn't believe in our organising 01:32:29.200 --> 01:32:31.600 capacity, so he's leaving tomorrow morning. 01:32:32.000 --> 01:32:35.640 So for those of you who do not believe in us, we have a few copies 01:32:35.640 --> 01:32:37.560 in English available today. 01:32:37.880 --> 01:32:43.160 So just at the at the reception, if you show your ticket you're 01:32:43.160 --> 01:32:45.960 flying away tomorrow morning, you can get a copy in English. 01:32:45.960 --> 01:32:49.000 OK let's call it and say, Richard, I hope you have your travel 01:32:49.000 --> 01:32:49.680 documents with you. 01:32:50.240 --> 01:32:52.400 So this is this for today. 01:32:52.400 --> 01:32:57.720 I wish you a very beautiful evening over there at the Olivia Centre. 01:32:57.720 --> 01:32:59.200 Please remember we start at.
